“The Best There Was” is an absolute pleasure to listen to. Class-act musicianship, superb vocals and thoughtful lyrics. The songs can start mellow before launching into full on rock songs with masterful guitar work, impeccable drums and organ work that add a “wall of sound” that pleasurably floods the senses.
I was turned on to this delightful record by my friend Kevin (who plays organ in the group) when we trekked to Newfoundland this past summer for a couple of shows. This man is a force to be reckoned with and is largely responsible for this years Stereophonic Music Festival taking place next week in Sackville, NB. While your checking out Handsome Dan & His Gallimaufry, check out the Sterephonic compilation and the plethora of talent it contains.
