# 44. Van Morrison: Astral Weeks

Going into this album being all too familiar with “Moondance” and expecting more of the same, left me shocked and surprised.  This album is vastly different although just Van Morrison‘s 2nd album with “Moondance” being his third.  What a difference. The catchy, radio ready songs from “moon” are replaced with epic 7 and 9 minute songs with abundant lyrics and genres ranging from folk to jazz to blues to classical. And very much like a jazz or classical listen, I imagine it requires multiple listens and an in-depth listeners ear. I’d like to have another go at it and focus on the lyrics…
