# 75. Paper Beat Scissors: Paper Beat Scissors

Paper Beat Scissors, the monicker of Tim Crabtree, released a new album the other night at George’s Roadhouse, right here in Sackville.  The place was packed and perhaps a little too noisy for the ambient songs and atmospheric delivery of these new Paper Beat Scissors songs. My friends and I, however, hunkered down close to the stage and had both a clear view and close listen to one of the best sets of music I’ve seen/heard in awhile. Tim’s songwriting is wholly unique with complex arrangements, sometimes offbeat rhythms and beautiful melodies and lyrics. For people who need a comparison, Paper Beat Scissors exists in musical solitude with acts like Sigur Ros and Radiohead. Backed by an unbelievable supporting troupe, including Mike Feuerstack (aka Snailhouse) and Kyle Cunjak of Olympic Symphonium, this new album is not to be missed and if you can catch a show in the near future, please, do yourself a favour and go out and support one of Nova Scotia’s musical treasures. The whole album is a treat, but here are a couple of highlights to get you started…
