The newest outing from Baby Eagle is like a good scotch; at first it’s harsh and goes down rough, but once you get used to it, it warms you all over and you can hardly get through the day without it. I’ve revisited this album a couple of times already since listening to it two days ago, and each time there’s something new that I missed or a lyric that just hits me the right way. Baby Eagle is wholly unique. His vocal stylings, lyricism and raucous arrangements cannot be compared, he stands alone. Alone but not isolated as the Proud Mothers give him the amazing and solid foundation with which to build these songs. For proof of the band’s chops, look no further than the opening track and album title, Bone Soldiers.
