# 95. Emmylou Harris: Hard Bargain

After loving Emmylou’s contributions to the last album on the list and because I love some of her old tunes and her various contributions to some of my favourite musicians, I figured I’d give her newest release a try.  I’d heard the title track (a Ron Sexsmith song) on CBC radio and thought she did a great job of it.  The rest of the album plays out very much like the aforementioned track; well-produced pop fare with beautiful vocals and excellent song arrangements.  The lyrical content can be dark at times and most songs are subdued and mellow, with the exceptions being “New Orleans” and “Six White Cadillacs.”

Highlights:  “My Name is Emmett Till”  “Goodnight Old World
